My first Vlog...

Recently, Erin from Blue Eyed Bride came into town to get a metabolic assessment through my business, FitLab, and to hang out with Lyndsey from All Things Fluffy, Fashionable, & Famous and her daughter, ALM, born just a couple months after Hudson. We had a blast together, talking, laughing, and getting to know each other better. Erin and I both had our hair curled and Lyndsey was saying she needed "help" because she hasn't curled her hair since she was about 11. When we were doing our tutorial, we realized we both had really different techniques and Erin ended up trying mine, liking it, and posting about it on Twitter, which generated a request for a video tutorial (to my complete and utter dismay).

The tweet pic that started it all:
While I HATE the sound of my own voice (it reminds me of Kermie) and while everything in me screams "Don't do it!" I'm going to post this video anyway. Mostly because I LOVE Lyndsey's accent. Oh, and disclaimer...bless you if you make it through all of our rambling. Apparently we both like to hear ourselves talk! Ha! ;-) I asked Lyndsey if I had to post BOTH videos and she said yes.

Alright, I'm sweating I'm so embarrassed so I'm just going to hit post now...

Those videos were so cute! You girls are so sweet! Have you heard of an iron called a "Ginalli"? You should totally look it up. I got one & my sister (Becky) got one, but they are awesome. (if you have the time to use it) Its like a barrel curling iron, with nothing but the barrel & it gets as hot as a Chi iron. We have naturally curly hair too. I've used EVERYTHING on my hair!

Here is a girl using the Ginalli on Youtube!

It's funny how you said you liked Lyndsey's accent. I am from Alabama and I really don't even notice it! I must sound the same way!

So cute! I do my hair like that sometimes. When people watch me, they've asked me why I curl from the root down. Good explanation - now I can say I'm using the "Curl Down".

Happy Friday!

Greta said...

Y'all are too cute!
And you're making this super low-mainetance hair girl wanna go try the Curl Down!

Becky said...

Your hair looks so awesome! Like Bonnie said we LOOOOVE the Ginali, it's a curling iron without a clip on barrel and it works great for loose curls like this!

Mrs. Heck said...

Lyndsey sounds JUST like I thought she would! :) (and you sound just like I thought you would!) It's funny to read your blogs and try to put a voice to the person when you've never met before!

I'm gonna have to try the "curl down" because my ends are fried! I love the Vlog!

Oh I can't wait to get home and watch those videos! (of course, I can't watch them at work! UGH!!)

Sassy Engineer said...

oh - I so wish I lived close to you girls! I know you would be so much fun to hang out with. I remember when Lyndsey and I used to wish we could get together and drink wine and work on house projects - but maybe not at the same time! Anyway - love the hair! I have always done my the traditional way but I want to try this now. Hopefully I don't burn off my ear!

J-Diggety said...

Too cute and fun!! And I love both of your accents. I have a thing with accents because I don't have one... well, I never thought I did, until I was in Chicago last summer and was told I DO. Whaaat?? Coloradoans do NOT have accents ;)

Your hair in the last pic is GORG!!

This was really GREAT!! Loved it!! Will use it!! You both are adorable!! Amy I love your voice and Lindsay I love your accent and wit too!! Yall did a GREAT job!! Seriously!

melissa said...

First - ya'll are too cute. Second - THANK YOU! I've always read in magazines that you shouldn't start at the root to curl but I couldn't figure out how to do that on my own hair. Now I can totally do it! Thanks for the lesson!

Chelsi said...

This is too cute! I, like Bonnie, have the Ginalli (or whatever its called!) and it is awesome! I have a lot of hair but its very fine, soft baby like hair. So, regular irons don't do much. I would spend an hour curling all of my hair and then spray the heck out of it and they would fall out ASAP. But, these rods that dont have the clamp (you have to wrap the hair around and hold it) really do curl the hair and it totally stays with NO product! crazy talk! Anyway, just thought I'd share becuase while your vlog is vonderful (ha!) regular curling irons and hot rollers don't work for my hair... plus the rods are easier!!! :)

You two are ADORABLE! I love both of your accents! You guys should do more of these vlogs!!!!

Thanks for the hair tips. I've never curled my hair, but it looks like something I could handle!

would this work on me?

no seriously. will it?

I tried this approach for curling my hair last weekend and it works great! My hair is pretty long and the ends always dry out and get damaged quickly. This method seems to work a lot better though and makes me feel like I'm not killing my hair all the time. Thanks for the video!!

Ok ... I have been trying to figure out how to make my hair do the cute little Kardashian curl to no avail, and this could have seriously saved my life. I have curly hair, and so far in life, it either has to be totally curly or totally straight. I haven't found an in between. FINGERS CROSSED!

ACL said...

love it! one question... i love the size of your big curls what size is the barrel of the iron??

After seeing everyone tweets this week about the "curl down" I just HAD to check it out. Love it! Y'all have the BEST hair and now I'm totally jealous. I have thick hair that's a crazy mix of extra curly, wavy, and stick straight so summers in Louisiana are brutal. Take that back, any time is brutal given my insane hair. Needless to say, I hate battling it! I will definitely give this a try. Love that I can let it air dry!!

Thanks for sharing. You both made me smile :-)

I LOVE this. I'm totally bald (um, slight exaggeration) and recently found the trick to keeping style. Don't use conditioner the day you want to curl, poof, or rock the Velcro rollers. Avoid making hair soft. I typically find that curl stays roughly 5 seconds in my 3 hairs, but I totally want to try this sometime soon!

Fun videos! A huge THANK YOU for posting these, as I have always been clueless when it comes to curling my hair. This worked great! :)
