Thanksgiving Introduction

Since my parent's arrived late Tuesday night, it was a fairly uneventful evening but on Wednesday we hit the ground running. I had classes to teach at FitLab so my mom decided to join in and I got a chance to show her first hand what I do. Afterward, we headed up to Fox Brothers in Atlanta to surprise by meeting up with my younger brother who happened to be in town for work and to introduce them to the phenomenon that is jalapeno cornbread, fried jalapenos, and incredible bbq. If you visit Atlanta, it's worth a visit.

On Thursday, we headed down to Alabama to DW's Granny's house for the introduction of the families! I have to admit, I was nervous but I was pretty positive good people would like good people...and I'm happy to report, we had a blast! I was worried for nothing! Once the food was out, it didn't take long for everyone to settle in and enjoy the day.

Tables and tables of food!

Casserole after casserole...

Dessert upon dessert...
DW, the Captain, and my Mom!

One of my favorite moments (besides all of the insanely good food) was when DW's mom started telling my mom stories from his childhood! They were hilarious! Pam tells this story of DW coming home from school at a young age and she said she couldn't put her finger on why he looked so different to her. After pondering it for a while, she realized he had cut his eyelashes off with scissors because he got tired of people talking about how long they were! Ha! Another of my top five DW childhood stories was when he was about 4 years old and caught a baby rabbit. When they asked him how he caught it, he replied proudly that he "neaked up on it". Too cute!

Friday we went to see the movie Blind Side and I have to say that it's a MUST see! It's really humbling what you can do for others when you're willing to look for needs around you. They might not be as grand as what the movie showed, but we all have our opportunities. That night, we spent the evening watching Auburn give Alabama a run for their money and were seriously really pleased with how they played. Saturday, unfortunately, was the day my parents went home...and I can't wait until they come again soon!

All in all...a great weekend and I'm happy to report our family just got a little bit bigger!
