Cries in the "Night"...

My former next door neighbor in Dallas and friend, Ronni, put up a post about her son that I just thought was so incredibly amazing and precious! She prefaced it by saying: "I just want you to know that I am fully aware that some of you will think I am absolutely crazy and in no way normal, but I'm going to share it anyway...." and then went on to say:

Thursday night Brady got fussy and it quickly escalated to crying at about 3:30 am. The moment I hear his voice over the monitor, my first thought is "Thank you, God"! Don't get me wrong, there are times when my first thought is "oh no" or "please go back to sleep", but not usually. I don't know why, but its the middle of the night when I truly realize how blessed I am to have Brady, and his crying reminds me that he is alive and well.

So, I get out of bed and head to Brady's room. I scoop him up and immediately he stops crying. Do you have any idea how good this makes me feel? It makes me feel like he was in distress and I have rescued him...I hold him so close and so tight and begin to rock him. He looks up at me and his eyes pierce my soul, its like he talks to me with his eyes and he is saying, "I love you and I feel safe with you".

The post made tears fill my eyes, both with the desire to not just know but to KNOW the kind of love that she talks about and mostly because it instantly made me think that must be the way the Lord feels! Can't you just imagine that our Father feels the same way when we "cry out" for Him in the "night"? He doesn't feel like "Oh no!" or "Not now!" He's waiting to spring into action...to wrap His loving arms around us and comfort us! I'm convinced that when we lift our eyes up to Him, He must feel like we are saying, "I love you and I feel safe with you!" He wants to be wanted by us! He wants to be our safe place, our reassurance, our comfort...

What an amazing thought! (Ronni, hopes its ok I stole this from you!!! I couldn't resist!)

I had another music moment this morning...if I keep hearing really good Christian music, I might have to take back my statement that most of it is cheesy. I heard a song by Aaron Shust for the first time this morning called Stillness (Speak to Me) and I fell in love with the words! How can words like that not move you?!

Have a great Monday...I'm so trying to have a good attitude this morning! ;-)

It's good to know I'm not the only "crazy" mom out there that had that wonderful feeling of waking up at night with my baby! It was some of my favorite times with Riley! Your analogy was perfect! I love how you view life Amy!(praying that your life is soon filled with sleepless nights too;)

What a neat post, Amy! Thanks! Seth has very few up-in-th-middle-of-it nights anymore, but now, if he does, I'll have a deeper meaner to reflect on as I stumble into the nursery.

Wow, that made me tear up. I'm with you, I ache to know that feeling. It's nice to hear that from a parent. Too often I hear parents complaining about things like that and it breaks my heart because I would give anything to hear that during the night!

I got all teary eyed too after reading that post...I can't wait to have that experience with a baby...knowing that he/she needs you as their mom...to comfort them, love them, and protect them.

I hope it happens for you too...and SOON!

OK, now Im tearing up! Im so happy you shared my post and put such an amazing analogy on it! Sometimes I struggle with understanding God's love for me, now I have something that I can relate to and realize just how much He does love me.

Amy, I am praying that God blesses you with a child soon - you will be an amazing mom!
