It's Been A While...

It's been a while since I've told a Bartee story (refer to picture at bottom right blog column)...so it's definitely time for one! One thing you need to know for this story is that somehow my internal daily alarm clock to call him goes off every time he's eating lunch! He messes with me that I like to "ruin his lunch" or that "I think it's funny to make an old man drop his sandwich in his lap"! Well, maybe subconsciously I do...

So I lost my phone yesterday and couldn't find it anywhere!!! What's worse, is that the battery was low when I lost it so it had died and I couldn't even call it to locate it! Well, I finally found it - in my BATHROBE POCKET mind you - so I guess I was really tired this morning. Once I got it charged up, I had several text messages on it and one text in particular just absolutely melted my heart. It said:

I went to lunch today and was not interrupted at all. Gosh this is strange. Something must be wrong with my phone. Where is the Queen of Tex? Where is the Titan of Talk? Where is the Grand Wizzzzzzard of email? Can you U tell I am bored too death and I miss U. I could use my Amy M. Walker Fixxxxxxxxxxxxx. FF. LY.

I kid you not, I literally started to cry. He is the one thing that I would have stayed in Memphis for...in fact, there were several times I tried to talk Dusty into it! It probably sounds wierd, but Bartee is literally my best friend besides my husband. Who knew a 30 year old and 72 year old could bond over who the heck knows what, but I love him with all my heart.

How could you not?

He is just the cutest! I love your special bond with him and know your friendship has been a blessing in both of your lives! I'm not suprised at the age gap either...your young at heart but you also have an old soul:)

I went back to read your older Bartee story and laughed so hard! He kind of reminds me of my Gramma - she's the same age and is just as cool as he is!

What a sweet message - I love that friends come in all shapes, sizes, ages and distances too! (o:

Technically this is Amy, but I forwarded a copy of this blog to Bartee and got this message via text at noon: "I checked your blog. You sure are a weak sister. So mushy. I am about to meet a customer for lunch. Do U have anything U want to talk about? This is about the time each day you get die-rear of the mouth. U and DW have a great day, hug his neck & say hi. FF"

Very sweet. My very best friend until his death was my grandfather, who would be 87 today, so I get it.

That is sweet. I had to go back and read the link about him, but how did you meet? Is that on your blog somewhere?

How sweet is that!!
Wow, I am way behind! The difference two days can make in the blog world! AWESOME on the buyers loan going through! That is wonderful!
I think it's hilarious that DW "acts" like he doesn't watch the hills. Heath is the same way except he'll actually say,"I can't believe I am sitting here watching this!" ~it's addictive!
And thank you for your continued prayers! We can definitely feel them! It will be interesting to see what becomes of this. Right now he is SWAMPED with side jobs, so that's a huge blessing!
Oh, and I'm definitely going to have to check out the emergen-c stuff...I'm miserable!!

I loved this post and the story about Bartee. (My husband does the same thing with text messages. He won't read them, he just picks up the phone and calls me and says, "Yeah?" - and he's 46 years old.)

We have a neighbor lady that we have a special bond with who is going to be 90 in December. A bit older, but her mind is so sharp. She remembers everything and has so many fun memories to share.
